Michelle Tang

My passion for sports therapy began when I was a teenager, growing up in Malaysia. I was a competitive swimmer since I was 7 years old, and became a national competitor for Selangor, Malaysia for 10 years. And in that period, with all the blood, sweat and tears – I have experienced my fair share of muscular pain, strains, sprains and other serious conditions.

It wasn’t easy being on a national team; representing Malaysia in very important races means I have to be at the top of my game. My biggest fear was injuring myself, getting kicked out of the team and not being able to swim again. My coach was also therapist, and has helped me with many of my injuries far better than anyone else and got me back in the race in no time. My grandfather, a former sportsmen himself, was the voice in my head, to keep pushing myself and be passionate in the sport we love. Together, they have inspired me to this career path.

Graduating with an Advanced Diploma of Sports Therapy, I have worked very closely with athletes whilst working with a few sporting clubs including Richmond AFL Football Club, Doncaster Rovers Soccer Club and Coburg Harriers Athletic Club. And my volunteer works with the Ironman Competition, 100 Women Walk/Women’s Cancer Foundation, and Half-Moon Bay Cerberus Swim Classic, has made me become the practitioner I am today; the ability to work with patients from all kinds of sports and their associated injuries. And that is what Muscular Health & Balance is all about.

The clinic also welcomes patients with general muscular aches and pains, headaches, mobility issues, postural dysfunctions, and any work related conditions. We incorporate a variety of techniques to suit their needs and help our patients get better; this includes deep and soft tissue massage, dry needling, cupping, joint mobilization, pilates and rehabilitation exercises.

My passion is to help people, whether they are athletes, young or old – I want to inspire and empower everyone to be healthy and happy. I want to provide the care and the treatment they need, and help improve the quality of lives of my patients with the best of my abilities.
